Future Sanctuary Plan
A Practical Plan for Ecological RestorationMariposa Cremation is being built around two goals: reliable direct cremation service today and a more thoughtful land-based option for the future. We are planning The Mariposa Sanctuary, a future state-certified ecological cemetery and scattering ground designed to reduce traditional cemetery waste, avoid unnecessary concrete vaults, and support native habitat.
A protected native planting area with Wisconsin prairie grasses, milkweed, and wildflowers to support honeybees, monarchs, and other local pollinators.
A managed natural area for cremated remains scattering, designed around state requirements, clear records, and low-impact land stewardship.
Simple above-ground memorial structures planned to sit quietly within the landscape while allowing permanent placement and clear family records.
Mariposa Cremation Society
Joining the Society requires no dues, fees, or pre-payment agreements. It simply keeps you informed as services, pricing, and future sanctuary options develop.
Society members will be notified first when sanctuary scattering grounds and above-ground memorial options become available for reservation through Last Dollar Protection.
Administrative Notice: Per federal law, all pricing and disclosures are presented here in full. Violations carry FTC administrative penalties of up to $53,088 per infraction.
Price does not include death certificates, obituary filing, shipping of remains, or ceremonial goods. Itemized list available upon request.
Alternative ContainersIf you want to arrange a direct cremation, you can use an alternative container. Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiberboard or composition materials. The containers we provide are heavy cardboard units.
Embalming Non-RequirementEmbalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with a public viewing. Because Mariposa Cremation operates exclusively as a non-ceremonial transitional facility, embalming is neither provided nor required.
Third-Party MerchandiseYou retain the right to provide an urn or container purchased from any external third-party source. Mariposa Cremation will execute the transfer of remains into your provided container without additional handling fees.
This General Price List is provided pursuant to the FTC Funeral Industry Practices Rule, 16 C.F.R. Part 453. You have the right to select only those goods and services you desire. Wisconsin Administrative Code DFI-CU 73 governs all pre-need funeral contracts executed in this state.
